Updating FetchSync Manually

July 1, 2022

If you have automatic updates switched off so you don’t receive a prompt when there is a new version available, or if Focus ask you to update with a Beta version (a version that is not yet available to everyone), you will need to do this manually.

If you have been asked to install a Beta version, click the Show Beta Versions box, otherwise leave this unticked (see screenshots below). If you are installing Fetch because your automatic update prompt has been disabled, you will more than likely leave this unticked. Please make sure your Focus Consultant has told you what you need.

  • Once you are sure which version you are to install, select the Fetch Sync Client version – it is very important that you do NOT install the Fetch Sync Server version

  • The download button doesn’t work, so highlight all of the file name and copy (Ctrl C or Right Click Copy)

  • Paste this URL into a new tab in your browser. It will start downloading

  • You should see the file downloaded in the bottom left hand corner of your screen.

If it is not there, look in your Downloads folder.

  • Run this file by clicking or double clicking on it. Follow prompts to continue, finish etc

Opening the newly installed Fetch

If you had Fetch saved on your taskbar so it is easy to find and open, it will not be able to be run from there as the version has changed. You can re attach it to the task bar easily.

  • Click the Window icon in the bottom left of your screen and start typing ‘Fetch’. When you see Fetch Sync Client appear, click on it.

  • You can now log in as usual.

If you look on your task bar (normally at the bottom of your screen), you will see the Fetch icon. It is there when you have the software open and will disappear when you close Fetch.

Right Click on it and select “Pin To Taskbar” so it stays there permanently. The next time you want to use Fetch you simply have to click on it in the task bar.
